Buses replace trains between Barmouth and Pwllheli until further notice

Description

Following damage to the railway caused by the storm surges and subsequent flooding in December, the line is currently closed between Barmouth and Pwllheli.

Railway engineers are working hard to repair severe damage at a number of locations, including Barmouth and Criccieth.

Up to and including Wednesday 30 April

Buses are replacing trains between Barmouth and Pwllheli.

From Thursday 1 May onwards

The line will re-open between Barmouth and Harlech on Thursday 1 May. Buses will continue to replace trains between Harlech and Pwllheli until further notice.

Amended overnight ScotRail service between Carlisle and Glasgow Central from Monday 14 to Friday 18 April 2014

Description

Overnight engineering work is taking place each night between Annan and Dumfries closing the line. The following trains are amended:

Monday to Thursday 

  • 23:10 Carlisle to Dumfries. This train is cancelled and replaced by a bus
  • 23:12 Glasgow Central to Dumfries. This train terminates at at Kilmarnock and is replaced by a bus between Kilmarnock and Dumfries

Tuesday to Friday

  • 04:58 Dumfries to Carlisle. This train is cancelled and replaced by a bus
  • 05:46 Dumfries to Glasgow Central. This train starts forward from Kilmarnock at 06:52. A replacement bus will run from Dumfries to Kilmarnock leaving at the earlier time of 04:31

Engineering work is taking place on some parts of Arriva Trains Wales routes with the following trains amended:

20:04 (Monday to Thursday) Birmingham International to Aberystwyth, bus replaces train between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth.  

21:04 (Monday to Thursday) Birmingham International to Manchester Piccadilly will be diverted and terminate at Chester, a connecting bus will run from Chester to Manchester Piccadilly.

23:14 (Monday to Thursday) Manchester Piccadilly to Chester will be diverted and run non-stop, a bus will run from Manchester Piccadilly to Chester calling at stations (except Warrington Bank Quay) normally served by the train.

23:15 (Monday to Thursday) Cardiff Central to Carmarthen, will be diverted via Rhoose with a bus from Cardiff Central to Bridgend connecting with the train.

23:53 (Monday to Thursday) Aberystwyth to Machynlleth, bus replaces train throughout.

00:25 (Tuesday to Friday) Manchester Piccadilly to Chester, bus replaces train throughout. 

04:35 (Tuesday to Friday) Machynlleth to Aberystwyth, bus replaces train throughout.  

05:14 (Tuesday to Friday) Aberystwyth to Birmingham International, bus replaces train between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth.

Engineering work is taking place over some parts of the East Midland Trains network with the following trains amended:

22:05 (Monday to Thursday) Nottingham to Worksop, bus replaces train between Mansfield Woodhouse and Worksop.

22:23 (Monday to Thursday) Worksop to Nottingham, will be diverted and not call at Newstead, Hucknall and Bulwell, a connecting bus will run from Kirkby-in-Ashfield to Nottingham calling at stations normally served by the train. 

05:00 (Tuesday to Friday) Derby to London St Pancras International, departs from Derby at 04:37.

05:19 (Tuesday to Friday) Derby to London St Pancras International, departs from Derby at 04:59 and will not call at Long Eaton, a bus will run from Long Eaton at 04:53 to connect with the train at Leicester.

00:15 (Friday) London St Pancras International to Leicester and 23:15 (Friday) London St Pancras International to Derby will not run. 

20:52 Corby to London St Pancras International  will terminate at Kettering.

21:02 (Friday) Nottingham to London St Pancras International will not run.

Monday to Wednesday

22:34 Reading to Gatwick Airport, bus replaces train between Guilford and Redhill, passengers should use alternative rail connection to Gatwick Airport.

23:18 Gatwick Airport t Reading, bus replaces train between Guilford and Gatwick Airport.

23:56 Reading to Gatwick Airport, bus replaces train between Redhill and Guilford.

Monday to Thursday

19:23 Portsmouth Harbour to Cardiff Central, bus replaces train between Bristol Temple Meads and Cardiff Central.

21:15, 22:45 London Paddington to Swansea, will be diverted after Cardiff Central with journey times extended by up to 30 minutes.

23:27 Cardiff Central to Bristol Temple Meads, will be diverted to terminate at Bristol Parkway, a connecting bus will run from Bristol Parkway to Bristol Temple Meads calling at Filton Abbey Wood, Stapleton Road and Lawrence Hill.  

23:30 London Paddington to Cardiff Central, bus replaces train between Bristol Temple Meads and Cardiff Central.

Buses replace trains throughout on the following:

21:24 Newbury to Bedwyn.

21:55, 23:00 Bedwyn to Reading.

22:01 Reading to Newbury.

23:03 Reading to Bedwyn.

Tuesday to Thursday

04:47 Bristol Temple Meads to London Paddington, is diverted and will not call at Bristol Parkway, passengers from Bristol Parkway should travel on 04:15 bus to connect with the train at Bristol Temple Meads.  

Tuesday to Friday

00:20 Reading to Newbury, bus replaces train throughout.

This engineering work has been part cancelled and trains will run normally from 05:00 Wednesday 16 to Monday 21 April 2014.

Buses replace trains between Swindon and Gloucester. 

Customers for Cheltenham will need to change at Gloucester on Saturday / Sunday and on the Monday and Tuesday customers will have direct trains at peak periods and will also be able to use CrossCountry services between Cheltenham and Bristol.

Virgin Trains

21:40 London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly, will be diverted and not call at Stoke-on-Trent and Macclesfield, a connecting bus will run from Stafford to Manchester Piccadilly calling at stations normally served by the train.

22:50 London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly, will be diverted and not call at Stoke-on-Trent, Macclesfield and Stockport a connecting bus will run from Stafford to Manchester Piccadilly calling at stations normally served by the train.

22:45 Wolverhampton to London Euston will not call at Northampton, a connecting bus will run from Rugby to Northampton calling at Long Buckby.

Buses replace trains between Oxford and Bicester Town until Summer 2015

Description

Chiltern Railways in partnership with Network Rail, are investing £130 million in building a new rail link between Oxford and London Marylebone.

This will include:

  • Laying almost a mile of new track between Bicester Town to just south of Bicester North to join the main line between Birmingham and London Marylebone
  • Renewal of existing track and signalling equipment 
  • A new station between Oxford and Islip called Oxford Parkway

From summer 2015 Chiltern Railways will introduce a new service between London Marylebone and Oxford Parkway.

From spring 2016 these services will begin to run from the centre of Oxford.

To allow this improvement work to take place the line between Oxford and Bicester Town will be closed until summer 2015, as a result buses will replace trains between Oxford and Bicester Town.

This engineering work is associated with the London Crossrail project.

As a result of this works the last trains to call at Hanwell are:

  • 21:03 London Paddington to Heathrow Airport T123
  • 21:27 Heathrow Airport T123 to London Paddington

 

Customers are advised to travel by train to and from Ealing Broadway and use bus services 427, 207, E8 or 83 as replacements for withdrawn train services. Customers travelling to Hanwell from Reading and Intermediate stations are advised to alight at Southall. Bus service 195 from the station front runs regularly between Southall High Street and Hanwell.

The last trains to call at West Ealing are:

  • 21:46 Greenford to London Paddington
  • 21:15 London Paddington to Greenford

 

Customers are advised to travel by train to and from Ealing Broadway and use bus services 427, 207, E8 or 83 as replacements for withdrawn train services.

The last trains to call at Acton Main Line are:

  • 21:42 London Paddington to Reading
  • 23:24 Heathrow Airport T5 to London Paddington

 

Customers are advised to travel to North Acton Underground station via Ealing Broadway on the Central Line and use bus 266 as a replacement for withdrawn train services.

Alternatively Customers travelling from London after 21:48 to Acton Main Line can also travel on the 21:57 and 23.00 Reading services to Ealing Broadway and take the 22:17 and 23:30 London Paddington services to Acton Mainline.

Tickets are valid for this alternative route for TfL Buses and London Underground.

Heathrow Express services are not affected by this engineering work.
