A signalling problem caused by a lightning strike at Otford is causing disruption to services between Ashford International / Sevenoaks and Swanley which means a reduced service is in operation.

Services are returning to normal but there may still delays until approximately 13:00.

Alternative travel options

Buses are supplementing any cancelled trains between Sevenoaks and Otfor.

Passengers may also use London Underground services on reasonable routes.

Description

A vehicle has struck a bridge at Norwood Junction which is delaying trains by up to 30 minutes through this station.

Thameslink trains will be diverted via Elephant & Castle and will not call at London Bridge.

There is no firm estimate yet of how long disruption will last but it is likely to continue until at least 12:30.

Alternative routes where tickets will be accepted

Southern passengers may use Thameslink, London Overground, London Buses and Tramlink services via any reasonable route.

London Overground passengers may use Docklands Light Railway, London Buses and Tramlink via any reasonable route.

Thameslink passengers may use London Underground and Southern services via any reasonable route.

  • Trains between London Liverpool Street and Shenfield may be delayed by up to 15 minutes

Disruption between Swindon and Bath Spa / Westbury until at least 12:00

Description

Following storms in the Bath Spa area yesterday, and lightning having damaged equipment between Melksham and Chippenham, the lines between Swindon and Bath Spa / Westbury are closed.

Limited replacement road transport is operating between Swindon and Westbury / Bath Spa.

There is no firm estimate yet of how long disruption will last but it is likely to continue until at least 12:00.

Alternative travel options

Passengers may use their tickets on First Somerset and Avon buses between Chippenham and Bath Spa on route 231, between Chippenham and Froome(Town Centre) on route 234 and between Westbury and Bath Spa on route 265.

Passengers may also use Stagecoach buses between Swindon and Trowbridge on route 49 and Swindon and Chippenham on route 55.

Improvement works at Cheddington station from Sunday 14 September to Saturday 11 October 2014

Work to refurbish the footbridge at Cheddington station started on Sunday 14 September and continue until Saturday 11 October. 

While the work is carried out, London Midland trains from London Euston will be unable to call at Cheddington.This affects all Monday to Friday evening peak services and a number of trains at the weekend.

London Midland trains to London Euston are able to call as normal at Cheddington.

Passengers travelling from London Euston are advised to travel to Tring, where replacement road transport will be arranged for onward travel to Cheddington. 

Passengers who wish to travel in a north-bound direction from Cheddington are advised to phone National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50. Road transport will be arranged to take you to Leighton Buzzard. 

Railway and car park season tickets for Cheddington will be valid for use at Tring or Leighton Buzzard for the duration of the works.

Between 23:00 and 07:00 each day, engineering work is taking place between Huddersfield and Leeds closing the line.

Monday to Thursday, 23:20 Manchester Airport to York is diverted between Huddersfield and Leeds and will not call at Dewsbury and will run later than normal from Leeds. A bus will run between Huddersfield and Dewsbury to connect with the train.

Tuesday to Friday the following trains are amended:

01:38 / 02:52 York to Manchester Airport are retimed to depart Huddersfield 12 minutes later.

04:25 Manchester Airport to Newcastle is retimed to depart Huddersfield 28 minutes earlier than normal.

05:21 York to Manchester Airport is diverted between Leeds and Huddersfield and will not call at Dewsbury. A bus will run between Huddersfield and Dewsbury to connect with the train.

Engineering work is taking place at London Fenchurch Street from approximately 20:30 each night, from Monday 15 September to Thursday 18 September, closing all lines.

From approximately 20:30 a reduced train service will run to and from London Liverpool Street, calling additionally at Stratford.

London Fenchurch Street, Limehouse and West Ham will not be served by c2c.

Any passengers travelling to and from Ockendon or Chafford Hundred will need to also change trains Barking, Upminster or Grays.

c2c passengers may use their tickets on Docklands Light Railway services between Tower Gateway and Limehouse / Stratford via Poplar and also on London Underground services between Tower Hill and West Ham / Barking / Stratford.

21:04 Birmingham International to Manchester Piccadilly will be diverted via Crewe and terminate at Chester, passengers should then travel on the additional 23:22 Chester to Manchester Piccadilly.

22:28 Chester to Wolverhampton, bus replaces train between Wrexham General and Chester.

22:23 Crewe to Chester will not run.

22:35 Manchester Piccadilly to Shrewsbury will be diverted and not call at Wilmslow, a bus will run from Manchester Piccadilly to Crewe calling at Stockport and Wilmslow.

22:35 Shrewsbury to Wrexham General additional, passengers connect into the 23:25 bus from Wrexham General calling Chester, Helsby, Frodsham, Runcorn East, Warrington Bank Quay, Earlestown, Newton-le-Willows and Manchester Piccadilly.

23:22 Chester to Manchester Piccadilly runs additionally.

23:37 Shrewsbury to Chester will be diverted via Crewe, Passengers travel on 23.40 replacement bus from Shrewsbury calling at Gobowen, Chirk, Ruabon, Wrexham General and Chester.

Buses replace trains between Oxford and Bicester Town until Summer 2015

Description

Chiltern Railways in partnership with Network Rail, are investing £130 million in building a new rail link between Oxford and London Marylebone.

This will include:

  • Laying almost a mile of new track between Bicester Town to just south of Bicester North to join the main line between Birmingham and London Marylebone
  • Renewal of existing track and signalling equipment 
  • A new station between Oxford and Islip called Oxford Parkway

From summer 2015 Chiltern Railways will introduce a new service between London Marylebone and Oxford Parkway.

From spring 2016 these services will begin to run from the centre of Oxford.

To allow this improvement work to take place the line between Oxford and Bicester Town will be closed until summer 2015, as a result buses will replace trains between Oxford and Bicester Town.

Overnight engineering work between West Ealing and Hanwell from 21:30 to 05:00 each night Monday to Thursday from 11 February 2013 to 05:00 Friday 26 December 2014

This engineering work is associated with the London Crossrail project.

As a result of this works the last trains to call at Hanwell are:

  • 21:03 London Paddington to Heathrow Airport T123
  • 21:27 Heathrow Airport T123 to London Paddington

 

Customers are advised to travel by train to and from Ealing Broadway and use bus services 427, 207, E8 or 83 as replacements for withdrawn train services. Customers travelling to Hanwell from Reading and Intermediate stations are advised to alight at Southall. Bus service 195 from the station front runs regularly between Southall High Street and Hanwell.

The last trains to call at West Ealing are:

  • 21:46 Greenford to London Paddington
  • 21:15 London Paddington to Greenford

 

Customers are advised to travel by train to and from Ealing Broadway and use bus services 427, 207, E8 or 83 as replacements for withdrawn train services.

The last trains to call at Acton Main Line are:

  • 21:42 London Paddington to Reading
  • 23:24 Heathrow Airport T5 to London Paddington

 

Customers are advised to travel to North Acton Underground station via Ealing Broadway on the Central Line and use bus 266 as a replacement for withdrawn train services.

Alternatively Customers travelling from London after 21:48 to Acton Main Line can also travel on the 21:57 and 23.00 Reading services to Ealing Broadway and take the 22:17 and 23:30 London Paddington services to Acton Mainline.

Tickets are valid for this alternative route for TfL Buses and London Underground.

Heathrow Express services are not affected by this engineering work.
